High Fidelity is available to perform for your special occasion—call 888-545-SING or 517-886-5336.

High Fidelity was formed through a happy accident when chorus members Paula Hoffman, Chari Smith, Laura Olson, and Elizabeth Johnson volunteered to sing on a radio broadcast to promote Water Wonderland’s “Be a Diva” membership program in October 2006. From the first time they sang together, they knew they were meant to sing together. Who is High Fidelity? We are:

Lead—Paula Hoffman. Paula is a teacher at Grand Ledge High School, where she teaches English and works with special education students. She joined the Water Wonderland Chorus in 2004, fulfilling a promise she made to herself after she and her husband, Bob, heard the chorus perform at East Lansing’s Wharton Center several years earlier

Baritone—Laura Olson. Laura is a real estate agent who enjoys “flipping” houses. When she married husband Dave a couple of years ago, she became mom to a ready-made family of two active teenage boys and a pre-teen daughter. Laura joined the Water Wonderland Chorus in 1999 as part of its “A Cappella 101” membership drive. When she attended the “A Cappella 101” classes, she brought along her mom for support. Her mom is . . .

Bass—Chari Smith. Chari is Laura’s mom, who came along with her daughter back in 1999 with no intention of joining a barbershop chorus. She caught the barbershop “bug” though, first as a lead, later switching to bass. Now retired, Chari is a sweepstakes maven, who also loves taking care of her grandkids and traveling with husband David on the vintage sportscar racing circuit.

Tenor—Elizabeth Johnson. Elizabeth is a marketing manager, freelance writer, and busy mom to four kids. She began singing barbershop way back in high school, and has been a member of the Water Wonderland Chorus since 1995. Although she sang with many pick-up quartets over the years, she was always “too busy” to do any serious quarteting—until she sang with Paula, Laura, and Chari.
